Xuejun Zhang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), received his Ph.D. degree from the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1997. He currently serves as the President of CIOMP. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Zhang has primarily focused on the design, manufacturing, and testing of optical systems. He successfully led his team in making significant advancements in the high-precision manufacturing technology of 4.03 meter SiC mirrors, results of which are globally recognized. He also spearheads the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) Tertiary Mirror Manufacturing project. As the principal investigator, he has overseen numerous national research projects and received five National Awards for Achievements in Science and Technology. Dr. Zhang is a fellow of both SPIE and the International Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET), and a member of the OSA. His substantial contributions to the field are further understood through his 185 peer-reviewed papers.
